Find Them All
In this activity you are going to find all the transformations between each pair of blue shapes.
On a piece of paper, write down as many as possible that you can find by looking at the different blue shapes. How many have you found?
The other coloured shapes can be used to find the transformations. Each shape has had the transformation as detailed below.
By moving the green shape, red shape and purple shape, and editing the transformations, can you find all the other transformations between the pairs of blue shapes?
Describe each transformation fully.
- To change the rotation drag the green point that is the centre of rotation or double click in the centre of the lime green shape to change the angle (remember in Autograph you must put a minus sign in front of clockwise angles)
- To change the reflection drag the two red points to move the red line of reflection.
- To change the translation drag the purple point to change the purple vector.
This activity is a great way to round up some work on transformations, and create a bit of a display.
Start by looking at one pair on the board, and identify the transformations between them. Then split the class into groups, and give them a copy of the print out sheet, which they must fill out with as many transformations as they can find.
