Missing Vowels and Word Jumbles
This QuickQuestion Interface © is a little bit different to many of the others. You have two choices for this activity. The missing vowels version gives a mathematical word with all the vowels removed, and you must work out what the word is. The Jumble version gives all the letters of the word, but they are jumbled into a random order, and again, you must work out what the word is. If you come across a word you do not know, then this Maths Dictionary is a fantastic way to learn about it.
Ideas for Teachers
This is an excellent literacy starter to a lesson. Students will have to think about what mathematical words it could be, and recall many different areas of maths. If it is a word that the class hasn't come across yet, use this to show them a glimpse of where they are going in the future.
