Intersecting Chords
Use the GeoGebra applet below to investgate any relationship between the distances involved when you have two intersecting chords.
Grab the orange points and the purple points and move them round the circle to change the lengths involved.
If you are stuck, then use the hints to help you.
Can you formulate a theorem about intersecting chords?
What are the different cases?

Ideas for Teachers
There are two ways you could use this activity. Either show the activity on the board, and ask students to try to work it out. You can then reveal hints when you think it is needed. Or give students access to a computer and they can play around with the activity themselves. This way you can't manage when they reveal the hints though.
