Drawing Straight Line Graphs
Below is a list of equations of straight line graphs. For each equation use the pen tool to mark coordinates of points on that line.
At the bottom of the activity, enter the equation of the line you are looking at to make it appear.
Check that all the coordinates you marked lie on this line.
Use the delete tool to remove the coordinates, and repeat the whole process for the next equation.
1) y = x
2) y = x + 1
3) y = x - 1
4) y = 2x
5) y = 4x
6) y = -x
7) y = -2x
8) y = 2x + 1
9) y = 3x - 2
10) y = 1 - x
11) y = -2x - 1
12) y = 0.5x + 1.5

Ideas for Teachers
To add a bit of competition to drawing straight line graphs, split the class in to groups and give each group an equation of a straight line. Also give them all different coloured markers of some form (counters with blu-tac, multicoloured page markers, smart board pens).Give them a couple of minutes to work out a point each to plot on the graph. Then get one member from each team up to place a marker on a point on their graph. Once all pupils have placed a marker, use the slow plot function to plot each graph (pausing and giving them an opportunity to correct if necessary).
If your class have already studied y = mx + c, that doesn't mean you can't use this. Just get them to scribble the lines on without using points on the line, before the check their answer.
